The Comporta Handthrown Collection
Comporta’s infinite beaches and humble, whitewashed houses were the backdrop of my favorite summers growing up. You can see these relaxed summers in the rustic texture of the Comporta Handthrown Dinnerware Collection. Made of local terracotta, each piece is handglazed in such a way that the clay below it shines through just enough to show a depth of color, and the hand of the maker.
Our head-potter handthrows each piece in the same studio as his father and grandfather, his potter’s wheel in the exact same spot. Handcrafted in Portugal. Dishwasher safe.
How are they made? The (very) old-fashioned way.
When I launched Lusitano Studio, my mission was to ethically support Portuguese artisans and keep craft strong. Each piece is handthrown on a potter's wheel with iberian terracota - creating a strong connection not only between potter and clay, but inviting you into the creative journey as the piece ultimately and intimately becomes part of your daily routine.
These traditions have been part of our families for generations, I hope they bring you just as much joy.
